Simple Breath Meditation

SIMPLE BREATH
Who here meditates? Like ANY kind of meditation. Guided, quiet, 1 min, 5 mins, etc?

I dabbled in Meditation last year, as a need to focus the chaos in my brain (among other things I do).

I need more clarity. I need more calm. I need more tools. I'm ALWAYS thinking, so need a way to channel the quiet.

I’m no guru on meditation - like NOT ONE BIT.

But when something resonates with me, you better believe I'm going to tell you about it.

Are you like me, where you suffer from that overactive brain?

The one that’s ALWAYS thinking! Wheels turning. Planning, researching…thinking. 🤯

So much so, you feel it NEVER turns off? That's me! 🙋‍♀️ IN. A. NUTSHELL!

Here's a SUPER simple way I started...you can grow from here. Add time, find other methods that work, etc.

Before you start, get yourself in a comfortable position - whether sitting upright or laying down. Clear your clutter. Turn your phone on DO NOT DISTURB. Find some ambient music.

BREATHE CALM & RELAX YOURSELF:

Breathe in for a count of 4 through your noise in your own time at your own pace.
Hold for a count of 4.
Exhale for a count of 4 through your mouth.
Do this for a total of 10 cycles.

BREATHE FOR ENERGY AND FOCUS:

Breathe into through your nose for a count of 4.
Exhale powerfully through your nose for less than a second (you will feel a surge pump through your lungs)
Breathe in again through your nose for a count of 4.
Do this for a total of 10 cycles.

BREATHE FOR SLEEP (my fave!!):

Breathe in for 4 seconds.
Exhale for longer than 4 secons.

Do this until you are close to drifting off to sleep!

I love the simplicity of breath work and that you can do if anywhere and for anything.

Anxiety? Breath work.

Nervous? Breath work.

Can’t sleep? Breath work.

Creative block? Breath work.

Try it out. Tons of great books or playlists on Spotify to guide you! This was from Jay Shetty’s book - Think Like a Monk.

Here's a playlist I found that has A LOT of music, Podcasts & Hypnotic guided meditation for whatever you need to work out. But there are a TON of options on the interwebs!!

You can just start by searching “Meditation for beginners”

There is so much science behind Meditation, as it's been a practice people have been doing for Centuries! Countless health benefits, physical benefits and mental benefits.

If you meditate, I'd love to hear your best practices, what resonates with you or WHY you do it!!

And hey, share this blog with someone you think this could have a positive impact. I'd be forever grateful.
